Stardock is not named after the software company of the same name. In fact, both this server and the company are named for a fictional island from the books of Raymond E. Feist and was first introduced in the book "Magician: Master." The island of Stardock was created from a large meteor that struck the center of a massive lake in the southern part of the Kingdom of Isles. It was given to Feist's main protagonist, Pug, to create a center for learning for magicians. As we programmers perform our own brand of "magic," Stardock serves as a place of learning and collaboration for students.Links :
Stardock will continue and be an asset to us; before I built the community there, magicians were often persecuted by those fearful of their talents... at least now those have a haven if they care to make their way to Stardock. - Pug, "Shards of a Broken Crown"
